City of Rennes (France)

350 km west of Paris, Rennes is the capital of Brittany. With more than 425 000 residents, Rennes Metropole is one of the leading centres of development and influence in north west of France. Rennes is easily accessible, only one hour by plane and 2 hours away from Paris by high-speed train (TGV), and at the heart of a network of first-class railway lines and motorways. It is also located near many internationally famous places of interest, such as Saint-Malo, the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the Gulf of Morbihan.


About Université Rennes 2

The University of Rennes 2 is the largest higher education and research institution in the field of Arts, Humanities and the Social Sciences and Humanities in western France, and is very attractive for students; more than 25 000 students are enrolled, of which 12% are international students.

The Faculty of Sports Science is one of the 5 faculties in the University of Rennes 2. Seven Bachelor's Degrees (5 general degrees and 2 professional degrees) and 3 Master's Degrees are awarded there. These graduates offer career opportunities in all areas related to sport: sport and health, sport events, marketing, tourism, physical education, training and performing, ergonomics, … The Faculty of Sport Sciences consists also of 2 research laboratories including the VIP&S (Violence Identities Policies & Sports) ( VIP&S team focuses on the analysis of sports and physical activities around two main objectives: a) report of the causes of the phenomenon of sports violence; b) launch a discussion on the virtues of the use of sport as a pillar of identity construction or maintenance of social bonds.
